A client portal for a professional services firm

An accounting firm's clients upload documents, track progress and pay invoices in one place, instead of by email.

This is a concept project. It shows how we would approach the problem; it is not a client engagement, and every number is projected.

Industry
Professional services
A miniature secure office with a locked front door and a wall of private lockers, one of them open and lit.

The problem

Clients send documents by email in many formats, then call to ask where their work is. Staff spend hours chasing paperwork and answering the same status questions.

What we built

  1. 1A secure portal where each client sees a checklist of what is needed and uploads it.
  2. 2A progress tracker for every job, updated as staff move it through each stage.
  3. 3Invoices and online payment in the portal, with receipts sent automatically.
  4. 4Mobile-friendly design, so clients can photograph and upload receipts from a phone.

Projected result

  • Far fewer "where is my return?" emails (projected).
  • Documents arrive complete and in one place.
  • Faster payment through online invoices.
